Welcome to the latest issue of CERN Courier

When LEP switched on, in 1989, the field had never worked at such a scale. Approved eight years earlier, it collided electrons and positrons until the turn of the century, marking a period in which discovery truly turned global. The July/August edition of CERN Courier reports on the symposium that took stock of that era, on NA64’s decade-long search for a dark sector through missing energy, and on Xsuite, the open-source framework that gathered the field’s scattered beam-simulation tools.
