The ELI (Extreme Light Infrastructure) project is an integral part of the European plan to build a new generation of large research facilities selected by ESFRI (The European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures). ELI-Beamlines is a unique project funded by EU (the subsidy amounts to CZK 7 billions) with the aim to build a cutting-edge laser facility. For more info, see

Currently, we are looking for a candidate for the following position:

Head of Technical Department

Job description:

Management and development of Technical Department

Responsibility for workshop operation

Planning and organization of construction and installation activities within the project

Responsibility for implementation and management of mechanical systems and systems for vacuum distribution of beams

Responsibility for coordination of technical documents processing

Preparation of technical documents for tenders

Coordination with other expert teams


University degree in technical field or natural sciences (PhD preferred)

Proven experience in design and development of complex technological systems (research infrastructures preferably)

Familiarity with photonics industry

Experience in cooperation with industry sector

Experience in tender preparation

Minimum 5 years of experience in coordination and management of a team consisting of at least 10 people

Excellent command of English
