The 16th International Workshop on Vortex Matter
About this event
The 16th International Workshop on Vortex Matter, to be held in Brazil from May 28 to June 03, 2017, will gather world leading scientists in vortex physics, with peers working in correlated subjects. The workshop addresses mainly vortex matter in its several aspects ranging from bulk to mesoscopic superconductivity in new and traditional compounds as well as in superfluidity.
The expected outcome of the workshop is to achieve understanding in the fundamental aspects of vortex physics, by solving present problems that can become useful in the implementation of superconducting technology in operational devices.
The event will be hosted at the International Institute of Physics of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (IIP-UFRN) and will look upon vortex physics as an unfolding field of research, therefore it is committed to include the discussion of the most recent discoveries in superconductivity and superfluidity
The first edition of the Workshop on Vortex Matter was held in 1994, in France, and since then it has been given significant contributions to the development of physics. Another important part of the event will be the Abrikosov Prize award, which recognizes outstanding achievements in the basic science of vortex behavior and correlated topics.
More information about the event is available at www.iip.ufrn.br. Early registration is open at the Vortex website (vortex2017.org), where the list of speakers and the complete program is also available.
