A new application note titled “Revealing Waveform Characteristics up to a Digitizer’s Full Bandwidth.”  The note describes how to achieve an effective sampling rate of up to 200 GSa/s from a 1 GSa/s digitizer. The higher effective sampling rate is accomplished with a technique called random interleaved sampling (RIS, pronounced “riss”).  The literature piece contains three major sections: a brief review of conventional sampling methods, the use of RIS/TTI to produce a higher effective sampling rate, and an example that outlines one possible implementation of RIS/TTI. A full-page sidebar describes how RIS enhances a variety of real-world measurements.
