Three 44Si particles were identified after exposure for four hours to a total of 7 × 1015 primary beam particles of 48Ca. Abundances of neighbouring isotopes were also recorded and used to estimate the cross-section for 40Mg. The most abundant isotopes resulted from reactions that knocked out a combination of protons and neutrons.
